🧅 Pickled onions for winter: so delicious, they disappeared in one evening!

Sometimes the simplest recipes turn out to be the biggest hits. This pickled onion is exactly that 🤩. It’s spicy, tangy, and bursting with flavor. I planned to make a few jars for the winter, but my family devoured them all in a single evening! So, I had to make another batch 😅.

If you want to add some variety to your winter preserves, you absolutely have to try this recipe. It’s perfect with grilled meat, fish, or even as an appetizer on your festive table.

🛒 Ingredients (for 2–3 jars, 0.5 L each):🧅 Onion — 400 g 💧 Water — 200 ml🍂 Bay leaves — 2🌶 Hot chili — optional🌿 Allspice berries — 2 tbsp🌸 Clove — 1 bud⚫ Black peppercorns — 1 tsp 🌻 Vegetable oil — 2 tbsp 🍬 Sugar — 1 tbsp🧂 Salt — 1 tsp  🍋 9% Vinegar — 2 tbsp

👩‍🍳 Instructions: 1️⃣ Prepare the vegetables: Peel the onions, trim the root ends, and rinse. You can use whole small onions or larger ones cut into rings.

2️⃣ Make the marinade: In a pot, combine water, salt, sugar, all the spices, bay leaves, oil, and vinegar. Bring to a boil so the spices release their full aroma.

3️⃣ Pickling: Add the prepared onions to the boiling marinade and cook for 5–6 minutes.

4️⃣ Canning: Transfer the hot onions along with the marinade into sterilized jars, seal them with lids, and turn the jars upside down. Let them cool completely.

💡 Tips & Tricks:✨ For extra heat, add a piece of fresh chili 🌶.✨ For a slightly sweet and milder flavor, use red or purple onions 🧅.✨ If you’re making a quick snack rather than a long-term preserve, let the onions sit in the marinade in the fridge for 2–3 hours ❄️.

✨ These pickled onions are perfect with grilled meats, patties, pilaf, and even salads 🥗.

📦 Storage: Store jars in a cool, dark place 🌑Shelf life: 6–8 months. Once opened, keep in the fridge and consume within a week.

✅ Summary: This pickled onion isn’t just a simple snack—it’s a real lifesaver for your winter table 🍽. Spicy, flavorful, and refreshing, yet quick and easy to make. Try it—and you might not have a single jar left by winter 😉.
